Fave ep. is toss up btwn the first one and the reunion because the QF showed who handled the kitchen pressure with calmness and fun (Lee Ann, and Tiff did great too). The EC cooking for each other was a great way to check out your competition and see who judged objectively or subjectively (Ken's dish vs. Andrea's sand filled veggie explosion?). My other fave is Tiff and Dave's street cart. That looked sooo good and they worked well together. The Wedding ep. was horrible for Lee Ann. They chose her menu then ripped it apart(BS). I'm glad Harold stuck up for her though, because Stephen had to go after that.

My fave chef's were the top four for sure. No one else deserved to get that far. Tom C. said on his blog that they wanted Dave out of the top three, but the Napa chef's picked Dave as the winner and the TC judges had no say in that. He also said he wanted Stephen to be in the finals. Looking back now, I like Tiff's drive and skill and her persoanality wasn't as bad as I first thought. She definitely spoke up regardless of what other's would think or say. A true NON Co-Dependent. Dave may have over reacted to her and we bought into that drama. But she did lie to the judges at the finals though about the desert collabration with Dave. Bad Tiff.

The final challenge was a riot to watch esp when dave and stephen had to get drunk to get thru the challenge.
Dave should have won, cos he made the dessert receipe and his food, you could practically taste them.
the worst challenge was the wedding day challenge where the wedding cake was underwhelming and so was the food. but who asked right????????

Watching the finale again made it even clearer how hard David and Stephen worked to sabotage Tiffani, and yet the guest judge still found her to be the better of the two.

The level of competition seemed a little higher in the first season. I think they turned it down a bit at the Producers request. They wanted a show the people at home could identify with.

I'd rather have what was served in season 1 then the crap they keep dishing out in season 2. The chefs haven't been able to show what they really can do with the cockamamie challenges that the have been given.

The show is in sort of a paradox. They don't want the challenges to all be about high end snob cooking week after week, but they also want to choose the Top Chef.

The Season 2 surfer cookout was a classic example of the paradox gone wrong. The chefs who tried to do more failed because the restrictions were too extreme, the chefs who reigned in their asperations won. Mike used a pre-cooked chicken and borrowed eggs and moved on?
