Woo-Hoo!! Marcel for the win!!

the thought of Marcel winning makes me gag.

Marcel is gonna win. He will be avenged for his assault by the vicious bully brigade. One by one...those bitches will bite it. And Marcel will reign supreme!!

I wonder if Ilan will continue to pick on Marcel now that his bully buddy Sam is no longer around?

I'm rooting for MARCEL!!! I thought it would be Sam and Marcel in the final but now that Ilan is in Marcel will dominate!!!!!

this is such a joke! what show am i watching ???? top line cook??? what is this???? sorry bravo i'm really done now! I mean how many "real chefs can you send home in one season well I guess you answered that one!

I can't believe how people can be really down right mean. Did you see the look Sam gave to marcel when he was hugging the flaky girl? If I were Marcel I would really watch my back because I don't trust Sam.

The Show is about cooking and not dogging people. I would never knowingly eat in those bullie's restaurants. Those are the kind that will spit in your food. They are so hostile and wicked.

At 1:41 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sam lost because instead of concentrating on his food he was more obsessed by Marcel's high tech method. Go Marcel!!

At 1:48 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ooops! Sam did it again.

Sam made vague bogus last-minute cheating allegation to save his sorry ass for those gross dried turkey balls in the Camp Glucose challenge.

Now Sam eggs Elia and Ilan to make vague bogus last-minute cheating allegation against Marcel without any proof.

EXCEPT... this time Chef Tom had enough of this bullshit. He saw through their crappy lies and sent them home. HUZZAH!!

The thought of either of them winning sticks in my craw a bit, but I'll soldier on and survive this debacle. Neither are Top Chef material.

Still, I'm in it to the bitter end. Let's hope Ilan concentrates on cooking and not dishing Marcel.

Hopefully, Marcel wins and Betty has to present him with his award. On bended knee...with Frankie at her side.

Marcel did well yesterday. I mean, as long as we are talking about the food.

So many anonymous posters, so much hate. It's pretty ironic that your accusing others of being so many horrible things when your the president of the club.

anon 11:48, I believe Ilan egged on Elia, not Sam.

The 2 chefs I wanted to see in the finals were sent home, so I'm bummed. I'm not a Marcel-hater, but I'm rooting strongly for Ilan to pull through and win.

At 9:02 AM, Anonymous lucy said...

it was pretty obvious that ilan and marcel would be the final two because they would cause the most controversy and "drama" because they don't get along. as soon as they showed them getting on the plane i called it. whatever. it doesn't matter to me who wins.

At 9:27 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

This is the same message I left on the Fan Fave blog. I think its worth posting here as well...

I guess the judges felt that since Sam was the fan fave that they didn't need to have him around for the finals. They only kept Marcel around because he causes such drama. He's NOT the best chef - the only thing he's consistent on are those FOAMS. The true Top Chef should be someone who has been consistent and improved during the show. SAM is the only one that fits that mold. I will not watch the final episode as it is apparent that the judges were swayed by what they think viewers want to see, hence, better ratings. Its Top CHEF, not Top DRAMA.

At 9:32 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

First of all, I think we should all keep in mind that Top Chef is edited to reflect high drama. Secondly, those of you without character flaws, please, cast the first stone!

All of the final four contestants have character flaws. Marcel tends to not a team player. Ilan tends to get aggressive. Sam can be passive-agressive and Elia gets a bit too emotional at times. Big deal.

Though Marcel's dishes are pretty, he approaches the culinary arts like a chemical engineer, not an artist. And, he was not the most consistant contestant. This alone is a huge problem.

I saw Sam blow up at Marcel, I'm sure I would have blown up at Marcel as well. It appears that most of the chefs took issue with him. I didn't see Sam bully Marcel. I didn't see Sam egg Elia on to call Marcel out. He told her to do what she felt she needed to do. And as she fumbled around and started to look silly, he told her to be quiet and let the judges finish.

I like Marcel, but he is not Top Chef material. And unfortuantely, Marcel brought the wrath down upon himself at times. And at times, the others behaved in an immature fashion. They are all in the 20's for crying out loud.

I strongly feel that the producers had more to do with the final two contestants than the judges, and that disappoints me to no end.

Vote for "And the Winner is.." in the poetry contest and I will give you treats of a sexual nature!!

Suggestions for next season.

1) Have a more meaningful consolation prize to add to the insipid 10 grand for "Fan Favorite". The new prize will be "Most Improved". Marcel would have one this year, hands down had he not made the final. Even Sam I Am admitted that Marcel showed the most improvement as the season progressed. "Most improved" would be a way to reward those who are really striving to get better.

2) Make it MUCH easier for the Home Chef to prepare the dishes featured on the show. Any good culinary consultant could come up with alternative ingredients that we are FAR more likely to find at the local Supermarket. Also, show the recipes for the Quickfires not just the eliminations. I look for dishes to make every week, and have only attempted THREE. Sorry, I don't have Xanthan Gum or Lazers in my kitchen.

Anon 727:

The episode was filmed like 2 months ago. The fan fave was not known until last night. Sam winning had nothing to do with his departure.

Ilan owns all.

It shouldn't be called Top Chef. Call it "Chef Who Does Best In Final Challenge for 100k" because nothing any of them did up to the final makes a damn bit of difference.

I can't believe all of the love for Marcel! That's what's wrong with the world today - jackasses like Marcel get ahead in life because there are so many other jackasses rooting for him. Its very basic - because you feel inadequate in life, you pull for other people who are inadequate. What's wrong with bettering ourselves and the world by doing the right thing? We should feel sorry for Marcel rather than using him to make us feel better about ourselves.

I for one am delighted Marcel is in the final 2. Marcel may be a bit offputting sometimes, but it is always about the food. I hate that gang mentality. Marcel also showed a lot a class with the hair cutting incident, and noteworthy, Cliff did in the end. I just can't believe the producers didn't step in and instead drooled over the drama. Ilan as really begun to show his true colors, my training, my travels, my experience....that's what almost got him voted off by the judges. I think his poor sportsmanship has left a permanent bad taste in the judge's mouths...I'm guessing and hoping Marcel takes it.

Sam won fan favorite because Bravo couldn't give Marcel $110,000.

I posted on Tom C's blog (1900+ messages!!) that I believe that Marcel is actually a sly fox--that he's playing the "annoying" card to make the other chef's pissed off and distracted. It looks like it's working...just one more round... Now, how about TC3 being a COOKING show instead of a SOCIOLOGY show!!!

At 9:20 PM, Blogger Edward Barnett said...

Interesting that in a blog like this everyone loves Marcel, but the fans who texted in during the show said Marcel should go home...about 75% did. Ironically the 2 lowest vote getters went home.

I felt bad for Marcel getting slammed. The bottom line is he doesnt play well with others. This isnt a myth or producer creation, eaither by style or design he is poor in a crowd.

In the preview after the show (It is different now) I thought I saw elia in the background cooking. Might have been an illusion. Did anyone else see this?

At 9:33 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

^^ I saw that also...it seems as though for the final they enlist the help of some of the cooks voted off already. On the other hand...I would much have preferred for Sam and Elia in the final. I've never liked Marcel. I like Ilan but, I don't like that he's a closest homo...why doesn't he just come out? lol

At 9:39 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

In the promo, Ilan gets Elia and Betty as his assistants. Marcel gets Sam and Michael.

I think Ilan is gonna win. Especially if the judges ask everyone who they believe should win - like they did last season. They will all answer "ILAN!", just like they all said, "HAROLD" last time.

At 9:39 PM, Anonymous Bright Smile! said...

If Ilan dose not win there is no way i am ever watching Top Chef again! Tom think about this one do you really want a little mouse cooking your food??? Do the right thing Tom pick Ilan!!!!

**Marcel, but the fans who texted in during the show said Marcel should go home...about 75% did.**

Jmo but I would think the reason for this is NO one being of sound mind would PAY bravo $1.00 or $.99 to vote in one of their obviously slanderous rigged polls. GOOD LUCK MARCEL!!!!!!! KICK SPANISH BOYS ASS!!!!!!

People -- We love to sue people in this country. Hence, Marcel HAS to win. Otherwise, he will sue Bravo for the "manhandling" incident.

At 9:28 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think some people need to get over the way Marcel _looks_. His hair is kind of weird, so people assume he's a freak. His preferred way of cooking is not the norm, so people assume it's not going to taste good. Get over it. Stop making the knee-jerk assessments you made about the science geeks in high school. If Sam wasn't so good-looking, would there be as much support for him? Doubt it.

At 11:20 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Marcel doesn't look weird. His hair is no different from most. He's not the science geek from High School, either. My "science geek" friends were neither snide nor rude, and certainly not arrogant. They were also willing to help out their fellow students. The only people who dared bully the "science geeks" were the ones who bullied everyone in their path, and those bullies were generally not tolerated by a majority of the student body. Eventually, someone would come along and beat the crap out of the bully, usually to avenge the countless victims.

Marcel is not liked because he behaved like a d*ck. Do those of you who have felt inferior in life really think Marcel would be your friend? Please. He would cut you down to size in a flash because he has no empathy and no humility. Your praise for him is misplaced and certainly unappreciated by him.

At 11:42 AM, Anonymous Chef Back Burner said...

Are you his friend?...Sat down, had dinner with him?

He's a person whose been on a reality show. We know what we know about him because of what he or the producers want us to know.

I sincerly doubt if we were in the situation he was in that we would show our softer side. When anyone feels picked on we all get this hard outer shell. He's had it basically from the start...so I can't say we've seen a whole lot of him. I can't say we've seen a whole lot of any of these people...like them or hate them.

So let's not carry this personality thing much furthur...we want them to be the character we need them to be....because it is television.

At 1:14 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 9:20, I actually have exchanged a few emails with him via his MySpace site. So, no, I wouldn't say he's a friend and that we've met, but he has been very gracious and friendly. As for him not helping others, I should remind you that he did offer to help Cliff pick out purple foods, he offered to help Betty with her crap brulees, and he has offered to help people plate too. I'm just amazed that people are focusing on Marcel's behavior as rude or arrogant when there are several other contestants - including Ilan - who have done far worse. I don't think Marcel's a saint, but I don't understand the comments of him being a freak, or deserving of the verbal and physical attacks, etc.

At 3:09 PM, Anonymous Chef Back Burner said...

Anon 11:14

I'll take what you sid one step further....NONE of these people are saints...it's a competition...someone has to win and someone has to loose...We all need to stop watching movies where the hero dressed in white always wins and the bad guy...in black...looses. Life is not always positive and the characters in it are not always so clearly good or evil...I think we all have our evil side...I know I do!lol!

here i was giving ilan credit for actually acting professional on the plane. then he brings up that whole let's complain about marcel at the judges table. to add to it, his little smart ass comment at the end of the show. i wish he would keep his mouth shut. based on all his grade school behavior this season, i hope marcel kiss his saffron ass.

At 10:22 PM, Anonymous sharon said...

i've watched both seasons now and for the life of me, i cannot see how marcel has caused such consternation from the other chefs. the rest of them come off looking like children towards someone who is more focused on the job at hand.

marcel initially seemed like a huge blow hard to me, but as the episodes progressed he actually improved in attitude. he seemed to focus on the tasks and deliberately tried not to let the animosity from the babies upset him.

he would walk outside, sleep in another room - anything to be away from them. so would have i!

in fact, he has handled this onslaught of continual animosity rather well. even betty and mia got caught up in this crap and lost it from time to time. the only time marcel truly reacted was when he was being assaulted...on film, no less.

i think this guy had every right to say what he wanted to at the judges table - it's a CONTEST with a big payoff. he rightly would defend himself and noodge the others. WAS HE THE ONLY ONE TO DO THIS???????

OF COURSE NOT.

i sincerely hope he wins and proceeds to tell that ineffectual "neener-neener."

cheating??? did anyone watch season one when burners were turned off mysteriously? wow. tom finally put those whiners in their places - thank god. i was waiting for someone to say something like that.

and btw, who can argue when the camera is on the diners and marcel serves his plates and they rave over it? who can argue over "ohhhs and ahhhs"?

ilan - scratchy throats, baby. spanish hawaiian appeared to come out as more spanish than hawaiian.

good luck, marcel. cook your butt on in the final (i know, it's already been filmed....)

anon 9:20,

Do you know Marcel? I'm wondering because your post suggest that you know how he treats people. It's not good to judge, expecially by a tv show.

At 12:41 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 11:28,

No, I do not personally know Marcel. But by simply watching him, and hearing his statements about his cooking techniques "being far superior to the other contestants", by logic, I deduce that he lacks humility and is a somewhat of a "social" derelict. Even Tom C. called him a maladroit in social situations. I don't find overly arrogant people to be a joy to hang around, but maybe you do. I also heard many snide, snarky comments come out of his mouth BEFORE the others began to get irritated with him. He's an ass.

He helped out the other chefs as to not do so would have been culinary suicide! If you write to him on his MySpace page, of course he's going to reward your flattery and adulation...he's "the best" don't you know? He's not stupid, why piss off his fan base?

Having said all of that, I could care less if he is in the finale. Basing it on that ONE episode, it appears that he deserved to advance. In the totality, however, I am not convinced that he is "Top Chef" material. I don't think Ilan is either.

I think that a Marcel/Sam finale would have been better. There are things about Sam's character that were disappointing as well, don't get me wrong. These are people who are only 20-somethings, after all.

I would like to see Marcel learn some humility and tone down the arrogance because ultimately (as I believe the bottle-smashing incident has shown) that will be his downfall and prevent him from being able to run a quality establishment.

At 12:56 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

"He's had it basically from the start...so I can't say we've seen a whole lot of him. I can't say we've seen a whole lot of any of these people...like them or hate them."

So, you would have us believe that Marcel did absolutely nothing to provoke the others. They simply decided to gang up on him because he was just so polite, sweet, helpful and pleasant? Whatever you are smoking, pass it this way, please!

People do not just arbitrarily decide to dislike someone. Chances are, if many people don't like you, it's because your personality is difficult and irritating. Surely that's not a concept that's lost on a majority of people.

And by the way, Marcel was NOT the only contestant that I wanted to see spontaneously combust. The name "Betty" crosses my mind...

At 1:42 PM, Anonymous Chef Back Burner said...

I didn't say he didn't do anything to provoke the other chefs...I said...if you put the quote in context...

"I sincerly doubt if we were in the situation he was in that we would show our softer side. When anyone feels picked on we all get this hard outer shell. He's had it basically from the start...so I can't say we've seen a whole lot of him. I can't say we've seen a whole lot of any of these people...like them or hate them."

The point being that no matter who we are in private we are all different individuals in public and while it might have been a small incident where Marcel said something....mean or not...it obviously escalated to the attitude we're seeing the other chefs have towards him. In that environment why would anyone walk around without a hard outer shell?

At 1:44 PM, Anonymous Chef Back Burner said...

Besides it's a competition...most competitions require at least a solid piece of head gear...lol!

At 2:32 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Marcel reminds me of Tiffani last season. I liked her a lot. But all the other chefs seemed to hate her guts. I couldn't understand it! Tiffani always seemed so focused and professional. And girlfriend cooked her ass off. It annoyed me to hear the others bitching and moaning about her, especially Dave. In fact, Dave came off like such a hysterical bully. I wanted to tape his mouth shut. And the way Dave and Stephen showed up drunk during the finale made my blood boil!

HOWEVER, then I learned from various blogs & interviews that Tiffani did certain things that got under everyone's skin and turned them against her. Just like Marcel, Tiffani became a social pariah among her peers because she rubbed them the wrong way in subtle ways.

I still don't get it.

At 9:47 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

i must admit that i didn't care for tiffani last season. however, i do like marcel. um...that's weird. now that i think of it they are very similar. interesting.
