Tre was such a favorite to win I was surprised to see him go.
His attitude last night reminded me of the bbq challenge. When he said he could make bread pudding in his sleep just like he could bbq in his sleep.
Last night was a great show.
Top Chef is really Top Ratings- elimination is based on popularity not talent or skill (hence Casey's longevity) Top chef is the only cooking competition where cooking gets you eliminated- inciting blogs and text messages makes you a winner- if Trey had been less talented and more of a drama queen he'd win- Boo to Brave and boo to Coliccio for knowing what's going on and not having the balls to stop it- for me top chef is over- I'll never watch another episode (and I'm not alone...)
i am so sad to see Tre' go. he is a good Chef. Good Luck and best wishes.
I was shocked to say the least that Tre was gone. What about the server. He didn't cook a thing! I am so upset. I wanted him to win badly.
Casey cannot even chop an onion properly. I am not a chef, but I could outchop her anytime.
Yeah once I learned that the producers help in the decision to eliminate I realized that it is not about cooking. They like keeping people that will add to the drama [Howie, Hung, Sara, Marcel] but are not necessarily good cooks. it is still one of my favorite shows but Tre should have stayed and I dont care much for Sara, she needs to go.
I can't believe Tre was eliminated, although he made 3 dishes (one everyone loved),two chefs made one dish that all the judges disliked. What's up with a chef not making one dish, how hard is it to take orders and greet people. The juding was not based on total effort or Tre would not have been eliminated. He was too professional and mature and that doesn't make good reality TV, does it producers? I'm done watching Top Chef it's not about the chef's it's about the drama.
It's not about the cooking? Tre cooked stuff that sucked, and that's why he went home.
Why would the producers want THE MOST POPULAR PERSON ON THE SHOW to go home? How does that help ratings.
Come on.
Clearly someone popular was eliminated and that always makes people cry foul. In Reality I am sure the Producers did not want a popular Chef, and the Only African American at that, to be eliminated. This was clearly a Judge issue. Again the 2 leaders won and lost. I would have given the win to hung and loss to CJ. They seemed to be opposites, Hung trying to help and CJ not trying to help.
I would also like to comment on the fact that the losing team was picked. CJ took his buddies thinking the other team would fight and lose. In the end he should have picked someone who can work the front, someone who can make a desert and someone who would work hard to make sure everything worked out.
In the End the Slobs beat the Snobs and a good chef went home. To paraphrase Rodney from Caddy Shack "Hey everybody were gonna get fed"!
Such a disappointment to see Tre gone. It seemed to me that CJ added to Tre's demise...looked awfully like throwing a fellow cheftestant under the bus to me.
I was enjoying the show. As of last night I am no longer a viewer. Tre~ was tops. He walked away like a man; head held high, dignity in tact, humility in the face of defeat. He didn't scream, kick, holler or even play the race card...He simply said he's learnede from his experience and he'll be the better for it moving forward. No longer a viewer of Top Chef.... A new FAN of Tre~
Tre was my pick for top chef, but I agree with Charlie, Tre food sucked and thats why he was send home, and he was suppose to be the leader back there, he should of let someone else do the dessert. I was sorry to see him go but I am not mad at the judges. I love the show and I think the judges try real hard to do the right thing, and its not always the most popular one. Casey and those onion, anyone could of chopped better even if her knife was dull.

i agree with charlie, while i'm crushed that tre was eliminated, to cite some sort of ratings conspiracy is stupid. as much as i love him and think he's the most professionally refined chef, i think he just failed to come through in the clutch.
is it unfair that he got judged more harshly because he was the executive chef and everyone else on his team left him out to dry? maybe. but that's the tough thing about this kind of competition. even in competitive sports, sometimes the way seeding/brackets and matchups shake out, you end up getting eliminated early on even if you would have made it to the finals given a different competitive pairing.
so again, there's no conspiracy. there really is nothing for the producers to gain from losing tre at this point. he's not dramatic but he had his share of witty one-liners, was the most charismatic chef and really, is there any better eye-candy than his guns?
I blame Andy Cohen for everything boring and untoward on Top Chef. Seriously, is that goober somebody important's son or love-monkey, or what?
I think they had no choice but to eliminate Tre. I would bet the judges tried to justify eliminating anyone else, but not only did he make 2 really bad dishes, he was the head chef and the whole meal was his responsibility.
I think Tre didn't learn anything from past errors. If he knew there was a problem with the salmon, do something and change it rather than send it out. It seemed like just eliminating the pesto could have saved it, and at worse it wouldn't have been described as a car wreck in Times Square and the worst dish I've eaten in a long time.
Same for the bread pudding. surely there was something he could have done to save it.
I also think he really had a poor back up staff and just watching how the other team was firing on all cylinders, his team was of no help to him and seemed barely concerned about their own dish, let alone helping Tre or making sure the team was presenting their best effort.
It's also funny how none of them learn from the gloating.
Rule 1 for Top Chef - if you gloat - it's a sure sign whatever you're gloating over is going to be something that's going to come back and bite you in the a$$.
Can you imagine if a few more weeks of problems like Tre amounts to a finale with Sara and Casey? OY
This season is definitely better without the drama of last season but this season's chefs couldn't shine season 1 and 2's shoes.
I just don't think the judges are thinking straight. Tre worked really hard and because he made 2 bad dishes he was gone. While I can understand him being out if all the others made 3 great dishes they barely did anything. So to me trying and failing should trump not trying at all (Casey & Brian). I am very sad Tre is gone but I don't blame the producers. I blame the judges.
I was sorry to see Tre go - he didn't deserve it. One show - the chef could be a darling and the next, a terrible cook who can't even boil water right. I don't love Sara and Howie is annoying. Casey, CJ, Brian, Dale, Huang - I like - I would like any one of them to win. Did you notice that Brian looks like Vince Vaughn and Casey like Jennifer Aniston?
For me,the biggest problem I have with Tre leaving is he left before Howie.
Fine,Tre screwed up,I can deal with that but Howie should have been gone starting with the very first EC.
The judging has no rhyme or reason and the TC faithful are getting frustrated.

i was realizing that one of the reasons they've lost such a strong candidate so early is that they've been having so many group challenges in a row. therefore a lot of mid-level chefs have been able to skate by on the strength of their teammates. bad scheduling on the part of the production team.
I was very shocked to see that Tre was chosen by the jury to leave. I cannot understand the reason. At least one of his plate was really liked which is not the case for the 3 other ones in the team. Bread pudding ok was cheezy but come on!!!!
Casey cannot even chop an onion properly. I am not a chef, but I could outchop her anytime too. That was hilarious to see someone chopping an onion so slow and pretending to be a chef...
I'm very disappointed in the jury's choice. I do not fell it was a good decision. I'm not going to watch the show as happily as before, Tre ws really one of my fav!
Tre lost less on his food than on his lack of managerial ability. He did not maintain control of the kitchen and took too much on himself.
Strangely enough, I watched a rerun of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares last night and one of the things Gordon said was that being "laid back" was incompatible with efficiently running a kitchen. A head chef has to take charge and be willing to bark orders if necessary. Sara demonstrated she could do this; Tre did not.
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION ANONYMASSS 335
hey anonyassshoollle 335,
you think the cast from season 1 and or 2 outshine the cast of season 3!!!! take a step back for a minute, almost every chef from season 3 has a resume and has worked in some of the countries BEST restraurants and already have a great career, and have recgonition already. if top chef never happened would we really know who harold, stephen, sam, or even marcel. nobody would really know who they are without this show. its people like you that do not cook for a living watch shows like this and judge them for it. with or without top chef the season 3 cast is a bad ass group in which ever way you want to look at it!!!!!! so get a life!!! ASS!!!
It seems that anyone who demonstrates a friendship with another contestant is soon eliminated. Lia and Casey became friends, and Lia was eliminated. Howie and Joey found common ground, and Joey was eliminated. Sara N. said that Dale was her gay boyfriend, and she was eliminated. The last episode began with Casey and Tre as friends, and Tre was eliminated.
Perhaps the stereotypical reality show stereotype of "I'm not here to make friends" is a good strategy on Top Chef!!
Hey Anon 4:42,
We at BTC encourage our readers to speak their minds. We welcome all opinions, even if they differ from ours.
With that said,we do not encourage personal attacks. Telling another poster to "so get a life!!! ASS!!!" is not cool.
I do not like to delete comments and we will leave yours up but please,no more attacks.
Say what you want about the show,Bravo,us,but not your fellow BTC readers.
Thank you,
chef biatch
