Send Dale Away

A gathering of judges appeared behind the table
They criticized his butterscotch, and said he wasn’t able.
They said send Dale away, send Dale away
Send Dale off of “Top C”.
Send Dale away, send Dale away
Send Dale off my tv.

He thought that he was a Top Chef, but to his surprise
They made him pack his knives and say his last good-byes.
Singing send Dale away, send Dale away
Send Dale off of “Top C”.
Send Dale away, come sail away
Send Dale off my tv.

Lisa has been in the bottom FIVE weeks in a row. FIVE. I'm done watching this show. What a joke.

There's one thing of just not winning any challenges and the other of that AND being in the bottom three.

Geezus what will it take to get that woman and slimeball OFF of this show?

I'm so sick of her and can't believe she is still there. I could not believe the decision to send Dale away before her.

She never won anything. At least Dale had some quick fires and elimination wins under his belt. I actually really like Dale, but I was always down for the bad boys :)

F*cked up, the judges totally f*cked up this time around, seriously.

If Lisa makes it to the final four, I'm never watching Top Chef again

Just wanted to point out that Lisa did win for her bacon and also received plaudits for her chocolate groom's cake, but as someone wrote at the Top Chef site, it's not hard to make bacon and cake taste good. This is actually my first season watching Top Chef, but this recent elimination may turn me away from the show forever. I smell producer interference. It reminds me of Jeffrey Sebelia's undeserved nine lives from the third season of Project Runway, which he went on to win. I stopped watching PR after that.

I went back and looked at the
shopping part of the episode.
The rice, which no one seemed to want to own... looks like Spike spotted it and Dale approved it and took it off the shelf. Anyone else get that impression?

I feel Dale had an ally in Tom and since he was not there and was being judged by others who usually don't to the main judging could of been the reason, maybe. Dale's body of work throughout the show should of kept him there, Lisa should be gone. Although, I think Bravo likes to get rid of one good chef during restaurant wars as a way of stirring controversy, just look at the past seasons.

Thank you...I am glad to see I am not the only one of the Top Chef fans that was cheering for Dale and is completely confused by the judges decision. Why did they not send Lisa home? She is vile and cantankerous and a total bitch and she takes no responsibility for her dishes and she brings no joy to her plates plus now I have to look at her face for another week. I loved Dale! What the hell!

Yes, I have to agree with Jonesie above. Earlier in the show, I was impressed with Lisa's cooking although not her personality, but over time she has racked up more losses than wins and her personality is vile. I did watch the show again, and saw that Dale did make the call on the rice, and his butterscotch scallop dish was bad,but Lisa's Laksa was also bad, and at the end of the day they shared the mango dessert. I guess Dale took the fall because he was Executive Chef, and there is some credibility in that decision now that I think about it. But, it sucks, and everyone knows it. I'm glad at least Andrew got to tell Lisa like it is before he left.

Top Chef has just lost all its credibility. Judging of the show is done in conjunction with its producers (read the fine print credits at the end of each show) and they decided to eliminate the chance of another Asian guy winning. Dale is obviously a better chef than many still standing with his quickfire and challenge wins and they decide to reward sub par talent and skills because they fit the racial profile and eliminate the one who actually owns up to his mistakes, has integrity and calls a spade a spade. I had thought that Bravo had a little more integrity than that but to send someone away because of his ethnic background? Come on!

At 9:58 AM, Blogger Kathy said...

I have a lot of problems with Dale's elimination, and feel strongly that he should have been in the top 4. But I really don't think his ethnicity had anything to do with his elimination, and I would be the first to say so. I am a feminist, and think Lisa should go, and I also thought Nikki was there too long. However, as talented as Dale is and despite his undeserved elimination, it is a long stretch to say that he was going to win Top Chef when he would still have Richard and Stephanie as top contenders, in my book. Dale was top 4, but not Top Chef in my book.

This was ridiculous -

Spike hasn't won a single elimination challenge (and has only been inthe top group once, for his soup).

Lisa has won only one elimination challenge and has never even wom a quickfire (and of course has been in the losing group 5 weeks in a row).

Dale, on the other hand has 3 elimination wins and has consistently been in the top group.

What a joke.

At 11:22 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Amen, Kathy. Dale was a one-trick pony, but the exec chef thing did him in. He the Trey of this season.

At 12:53 PM, Blogger Brian said...

I don't think Dale is a well rounded chef. In a competition like this, you have to be a master of all menus (Hung is a great example of a chef that learned his craft before he made it an art).

That being said, Lisa is the least talented of the bunch. She will not last another round. She simply does not have the chops.

I mean, in the last 2 elimination challenges she has managed to f**k up RICE!!! (Of course it's never her fault)

At 1:31 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

total crap decision.

she f'd up rice--twice. twice.

the Donald would be very disappointed with these judges. He would probably fire them.

At 3:43 PM, Anonymous Mr Kev said...

As soon as I start to get interested in the show, they blow all their credibility. Lisa has obviously been the worst chef standing for at least 2 or 3 weeks. She deserves a plaque on the chopping block. But (and this is a repeat) she is still around because she is the villain of the TC melodrama, and the producers couldn't kill her off too soon. It's a sham.

At 3:59 PM, Blogger Henry said...

I think you are all over reacting a bit here. The elmination is based on the task and in the task Dale took the lead of executive chef and that responsibility.

Besides, butterscotch on seafood!

At 4:44 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

No Henry we aren't over reacting, the show really has lost all credibility and for that matter so has Anthony Bourdain, he shows up one time and doesn't know who's a great chef and who's a horrible chef. I've decided to stop watching all Bravo shows and No Reservations.

I am inclined to agree with you, but in the interest of balance, I try to see it from the judge's POV. They also dismissed Chef Manuel awhile back, because he did not lead against Spike effectively. In all fairness, they would have to hold Dale and everyone else to the same standard. Still, there have been a lot of inconsistencies, and the fact that he is gone and Lisa is still there doesn't reflect well on the judges. I don't like that the Executive Chef has to take the blame for everything, and perhaps Lisa should have been given the boot weeks ago.

OMG! The groom's cake that looked like a KGB building(!). Honestly, I don’t care what it tastes like, if the food looks like sh*t, I ain’t eating it, AND if the person who made it looked like she hasn’t washed her hair in days, uh, NOTENKS (shaking my head). Somehow, Lisa managed to screw up cooking rice TWICE in a row, and on both instances she has not taken responsibility for either failure~it’s always somebody else’s fault when Lisa is concerned, apparently.

Meanwhile, Dale, who's always taken responsibility for his dishes, is booted out...I really feel sad about Dale’s elimination. It’s the same sadness I felt when LeeAnne Wong was eliminated in Season 1.

Oh and btw, I can’t stand Spike, either.

Here's the rule for the remaining chefs:

Don't get in a spitting match with Lisa. She will drop you. You will go down.

I don't want to pack my knives with this show just yet. However, if Lisa is still there in the upcoming weeks and Richard or Stephanie are sent home - that's it...I'm done.

I am so tired of the judging on this show. Lisa should be out. Wasn't it Lisa and Antonia that decided to "break the rules" during the Improv, but skated by. Using her own logic to help get Andrew booted, she should have been gone weeks ago.

Then, what a gutless, accept no responsibility approach to say, "someone burned my rice." Cry me a f*@&ing river. It's your rice. You burned it and served raw shrimp that could potentially have sickened the police officers like you sickened me you spineless bitch.

Dale - you got jobbed.

Spike - you are just a deuchbag

Agree on all main points discussed previously. If the show is called: Lucky Chef, Lisa or Spike should win. Dale was robbed, and his emotional ending reflected that. It also made me like him more, at least he took it seriously.

I would of liked to have seen Richard & Dale pair-up against Steph & Antonia.

look, it's very simple. Once again dale was in charge, his team lost. He was THE chef in this competition. That always makes or breaks you. through the entire show he's been negative, and agressive, and rude, and he thinks his butterscoth dont stink.

He took charge of being THE chef in the resturaunt. It was his place to be in charge of what is cooked, what goes out, and what happens in the kitchen (including what happend when he fucked up his avacado, and everything went down hill from there) and he failed miserably. The judging is based on the day. Today was not his day, so goodbye

EDub,
With Lisa's negative disposition, not butting heads with her would be a challenge tougher to go through than the quickfire and elimination challenges put together. LOL!

I can't fu**ing believe they sent Dale home. He was the 2nd best chef there hands down. Spike is a fuc*ing weasel puss* and never ever gets near the fire. The judges calld him wise, i think he's a total wuss for allowing his team to fail so bad. Lisa is painful to watch and listen to, not to mention a terrible chef. she doesnt season her food, never cooks it properly has a shitty attitude and never takes responsibility for her failure as a chef.

Dale may have fucked up here, but he is a very talented chef and he was robbed i tell you, robbed!

At 11:05 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's not that simple. Let's just get it straight one final time, the chefs shouldn't be judged by just one dish, it should be their cumulative efforts, I believe Dale won 5 quick fire challenges, he should have at least been in the final four. There are major flaws in the show. And where was Tom?

"...(including what happend when he fucked up his avacado, and everything went down hill from there) and he failed miserably..."

NOPE. The judges actually loved Dale's dessert. LEt's not get it twisted please.

This is funny...yeah, I agree. It was a fugly lookin cake.

they loved his avacado, but when he started panicking, all hell broke loose. . . Dale had a tuff time behaving like an executive chef.

It must've been very hard for Dale to have to manage the two people he knew wanted him thrown out since the Wedding Challenge. Lisa and Spike seem to have an agenda to get Dale off the show.

It was painful to see Dale crying in his exit interview because you can see that he really had passion for what he did while he competed. Yeah sure he had his bad moments, but you have to give him credit for keeping his competitive spirit as he competed to win everytime.

Unlike Lisa and Spike, who seem to take on each challenge with their swagger, but deliver short with the results.

During the To Serve and Protect challenge, didn't Spike strategize to "disarm" the the other contestants? Look where it got him? In the same challenge, Lisa blamed her uncooked rice against a mystery saboteur? She also served undercooked shrimp, right? Why are these two still on the show????

Geez, what a waste of space, these two.

I blame Padma.

Dale managed the best he could, but even the Patton would have struggled with Lisa.

Spike and Lisa should be gone long before now. Spike for never stepping into the fray and cooking something decent (olives and grapes in the same mix? spare me)..... and Lisa for really the same thing. Personality notwithstanding, she hasn't performed well enough to still be in it.

Returning to Padma though. She was the judge that had continuity. She let Bourdain push her around and decide Dale should go over Spike or Lisa.

Shame on you Padma. You are the one that should have been strong and stood for what was right. The judges got it wrong, and they know it. And, if they have any sense, they figured it out before the last challenge, because if Spike or Lisa did somehow snatch a miracle from thin air, get to the final and win....it would destroy this show for many viewers.
