I've got a question...

What was more surprising?
Carla actually blowing her chance to win by listening to Casey?
Stefan's reaction to Carla's tears?
Hosea being mediorce all season and actually pulling off the win?
Gail's ginormous boobs seeming to be even more ginormous then usual?

I think that Stephan had endearing moments thoughout. He is also very funny. Somebody HAS to be edited as the villian.

This finale was a disaster.

The Hose is so unlikable and is the true villian of the season. He was rude and horded ingredients to undermine Stephans efforts. Hose is a jerk Stephan will go very far.

Poor Carla..and even worse - poor Casey, she will never live this down.

I agree with Kimberlyn... Stefan was edited to be the villain. Stefan's sweet reaction to Carla's tears belied a part of his character we were not allowed to see this season. He may be bombastic and confident, but he is evidently also a "softie".

I was pulling for Carla, but would have definitely been okay with Stefan as Top Chef. The man can cook (even DESSERT, fercripessake -- even Ilan Hall made a dessert!), and he proved it time and time again.

This finale WAS a disaster. My favorite Food Show is no more.

Tom's blog about the finale is up this morning. He makes some good points, but I think he will change very few minds.

I'm glad you mentioned Gail's boobs. They were insane. I saw a very funny post about it here: http://style.pwblogs.com/2009/02/26/top-ta-tas/

See, I don't think Stefan was that bad at all. In fact, I liked the guy. I thought he was funny, was a team player and had some kick ass culinary skills to back all that attitude up.

Yeah I liked Stephan as well but did not think Hosea was such a bad guy either. Stephan was the better chef but so was Richard. It is a competition and Hosea won fair and square. I do not think you can doubt Tom’s integrity and there is a really funny you tube video where Anthony Bourdain states that Tom is one of the reasons he is such a fan boy of Top Chef.

Great poll!

I think Stefan did surprise me but not sure how much that was editing as people have said.

I think Stefan in that moment showed why he actually did win regardless of the bullshit outcome.

p.s I have never laughed so hard as when Stefan called Marcel a "twat" and being an American show they were unaware how bad an insult that was and left it in.

twat = cu*t funny! :)

ps Tom has went down in my books about 75%

Saddest thing is that Stefan was trying to be gentlemanly by "sparing" Carla Marcel as a sous. He thought he was helping her by leaving her with Casey. Strangely, though, Marcel acted more like a sous and might have done better under Carla, and if Stefan had gone with Casey, he would likely have asserted himself and not let her steer him out of his own path as Carla did.

Oh, the irony of it all!

The bigger question is why is Gail wearing Endora's dress from "Bewitched" in that picture?

Even Eric Ripert thought Stefan would win. Here is an excerpt from an interview with Ripert from People.com:

Speaking of shows, you judged last week’s Top Chef. Which contestants do you think have what it takes to win?

I thought Stefan was by far the strongest. He’s the one who really makes a difference, and he won the challenge easily. He has the technique; he has the sensitivity; he has a good palate and a good knowledge and good professional experience. To me, it makes a very big difference.

Is he your pick to win?

I wouldn’t be surprised all. To me it would be logical if he wins. I don’t think any of the others [are at] the same level.

As I have said, I was a Carla fan, but I really respect Ripert, and even he thought no one else was at Stefan's level.

I'd take Gail over Toby.

And yeah, what's up with Gail's outfit? Did Bravo ask her and Padma to let the girls out for the finale?

I hope they leave that kind of fashion to the OC Housewives.

Tha was a boring finale, I tell you.
