Oh What A Night

Now we know how to eliminate 2 and remain with 3. Congratulations to Carla for tonight's win and to Jeff for the QF win that put him back in the running one more time.

So we have the final 3... but are these the three you wanted?

Ah Fabio. So many of us are still in shock and crying. Many of us wanted to see you go all the way. We wish you nothing but the best and hope you will drop by our little kitchen sometime.
So onto next week and the final!

My wife and I were almost certain it was going to be Jeff, Carla, and Josea.

Next week is going to be intense. Stefan and Josea want each other's throats. Meanwhile, Carla will continue to just cook and smile her way through it.

Tonight's episode was maybe one of the finest produced of the entire series. It was great to see Gail back, and Emeril was a great guest judge.

This was a fantastic episode, by far the best of the season and a great payoff to watching all these weeks. First off, I really enjoyed the surprise Quickfire and was routing for Jaime but I was very happy for Jeff who I thought was prematurely cut. Then I really loved seeing the Elimination Round, I mistakedly thought Hosea was going to win because they were raving about both his dishes. One note, I am in CA and before our first airing of TC was near over, I went to Bravo's site to look up something and they posted the results and ruined it for me. I wish all these sites would consider folks in the Western part of the country and wait to post results until their first airing concludes. I still thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode:) Prediction for winner: Carla is on a roll, but I think Stefan will win. He is obviously holding back and he has been cut down a few notches, hopefully he will stop being cocky and give it his best shot. I'm really sad to see Fabio go, anyone who could win last week's challenge with a broken finger is a fantastic competitor. He also has great entertainment value and I predict he will get his own show on TV.

This was awesome. I was hoping Jeff would win, but at least he left feeling better about the game.

Phil, there was no way they were going to let Stephan go home. He has been consistantly the best, but has fallen off a bit lately. They wanted him there.

Yea, Carla!

I hated to see Fabio go...loved that accent. But it is down to who is should be.

Has Emeril had a stroke? I haven't watched one of his cooking programs in a long time since I don't have cable, but it seemed like he was talking out of only one side of his mouth which is something I've seen in people who are recovering from a stroke.

I normally hate Bravo's silly gimmicks but this one was top-drawer and didn't interfere with what the show's supposed to be.

I wrote Haikus to honor them for this episode.

I have really enjoyed this season, and am SO happy that Carla is in the finale. I would have LOVED to have tried her oyster stew... man that looked good. Anyway, I do think that because she won this one, Stefan will win the next one... Has anyone noticed that it's very rare on these types of shows for the ultimate winner to have also won the episode right before it? Anyway, good luck everybody.

Loved this episode. I really wanted to taste Jeff's crayfish dish, and Carla's beignet. Emeril was such a respectful, well spoken guest judge! And it was good to see Gail back.

I still think Stefan might win. I was a Jamie fan, but with these finalists my allegiance has switched to Carla.

My husband and I were SURE it was going to be Carla, Hosea, and Fabio! But "What!" Stefan? Oh no.... Stefan's dishes were the least favorite! (may I add he had couple of cigarette breaks!) We were so sad that Fabio was eliminated! I think it wasn't a fair elimination! You KNOW Fabio's dishes were WAY better!!!

Did anyone read Gail's blog on Bravo? It seemed odd she compared Carla to Stephan and justified why Carla was the choice over Stephan. Stephan didn't even seem like he was in the running??? weird.

THE FIX IS IN!!!!! Stefen has had the worst dishes for the past two weeks. Last week as you recall, he couldn't even handle salmon and spinach!! This week, his dishes were obviously inferior to Fabio's according to the overall feedback. Yet he continues on...!!!! I think that Tom has clearly favored him from the start. I'm not saying that he's not talented, but the finalists are supposed to be determined based on their performance each week. I have always been a big fan, but I am really disgusted with the show at this point. What a crock!! Go Carla!!

It looked like the winner was decided based on what lineup would make for good, dramatic TV in the final. Jeff sure sounded like he was going to win, but that would have meant both Stefan and Fabio would be eliminated (since they were clearly the bottom two). Top Chef couldn't allow that to happen because both of them make for a more interesting show (for different reasons) than Jeff, who has a blander personality than Fabio and doesn't stir up trouble like Stefan. So they couldn't let Jeff win and stay on the show with Carla and Hosea. Sorry, Jeff, but you got eliminated not for your cooking but your capacity for good TV drama. If you don't believe this then how else do you explain why Stefan has survived despite very poor showings on the last two shows?

Carla beats the Nazi (Stefan) in the final = America wins again, yawn.

Hi everybody:

Go read tom's blog or any other judge. My food was good even the salmon. Edditing is the key here. You should all know by now this is reality TV. Isn't. And Nazi comment please i think that is the last we should use in 2009. Call me confident or whatever but please i don't apriciate NAZI. That is below the belt big time.

Thank you and remember 24 / 7 footage condenst to 45 minutes

Stefan

She is awesome, completely overlooked!

Good for u Stefan for sticking up for urself, don't know why people think its fun to make fun of someone else. Hey he's confident in himself and he has cooked good food, look how many times he won each week. Give the guy a break

Was that really Stefan who just posted? The writing style seems similar to Stefan's "Burning Questions" blogs on the Bravo site, so... if so, interesting.

That said, obviously he is right. It kind of annoys me how many viewers gobble up the edits of a reality TV show part and parcel like this is the true representation of one's personality. This is why reading the judges' blogs is essential - it always clears up what might look ambiguous or suspicious from the episode.

PS.- I actually quite like each of the remaining cheftestants, for different reasons. I think this was a strong season for both personality and talent on Top Chef, so it was harder to get a sourpuss like Lisa (Season 4) in the mix because of the high ratio of strong players.

Stefan is very confident and I think that annoys people for the wrong reasons - hypocritical modesty is considered better I guess? there's nothing wrong in being confident in what you do. Only thing is, it can get the best of you.

Carla is such a delight to watch and I hope she wins because she really seems to enjoy what she does and has managed to come this far with her personality as well as food. If she doesn't, I guess Stefan should, because despite his not so likeable character, he is a great chef.

I'm actually very excited both Stephan and Carla are in the final 3--I can't wait to see what dishes they select when there are fewer guidelines on what they must prepare. I really could care less what Hosea prepares.

I wish Hosea had gone last week and left us with a finals of Stefan, Fabio, and Carla. I think Stefan and Fabio are more talented chefs, but Carla has some of that love in the dishes that's apparently bringing her good karma. Fabio and Stefan have really made this season a GREAT one (despite Leah/Hosea).

Stefan has posted quite a bit on the TC blogs. From the previews, it looks like Hosea really "hoses" Stefan somehow (by hogging an ingredient?") If he wins trying to cheat, I'll really be pissed. If he wins period.

I really wanted to see Stefan, Fabio and Carla as the final three, because on top of their cooking talents, they all have AWESOME personalities. So interesting and so much fun to watch.
