Was Something A Little Fishy

OK before we begin... one more look at Chef Eric. Damn he is hot. What a treat to see his restaurant and him in action with the chefs tonight. Click HERE to read his Q&A over on Bravo. We love you Eric.

OK onto the results for week 11.

Congratulations to Chef Stefan for both the QF and the elimination challenge. Chef Stefan was in his zone tonight.

Ah Chef Jamie. So many of us thought you would make it to the final 3. We are sorry that the salt did you in. We wish you all the best and hope you drop by our little kitchen.

What just happened??? I was so sure Jamie would be in the finals and was really looking forward to her menu. I thought Leah was out, especially since Tom was on to her "who cares" attitude. So disappointing!

Yeah, I agree that Leah should have been out. Was it just me or was this episode full of *yawn*? They should have gotten to "re-invent" the fish dishes instead of replicate them.

I have repeatedly said that Top Chef is one of my favorite shows since its inception. The show is fast losing credibility with me, because the show's set-up leading to a justification for the decision to cut someone sucks. I get the feeling the show progresses to lead us in a heavy-handed direction to believe one contestant will be cut, then pulls the same formulaic 'what the fuck' move and cuts the wrong person. It's like a gimick that's not working after a while. Jamie is the perfect example. I always look at how well someone has done throughout the season while they're on the chopping block. You can't compare Jamie and Leah. At what point in the show was Leah emerged as a top-tier chef? Jamie has consistently come close to winning and winning challenges. Leah is only still on the show because Top Chef wants to drag out this little junior high tryste between she and Josea, which is the kind of stuff I turn to Top Chef to avoid. I can get pet relationship drama from MTV. Shape up, Top Chef. I want to love you again.

NOOOO NOT JAMIE. You could tell during the interviews on the show she was in a sad mood..as though she was defeated way ahead of time. Leah further than Jamie? What has Leah done again? Wow... Watch the first half of season and Jamie is a main contender while Leah is sleeping around with Hosea..christ...

I let out a 'gasp' when Jamie's name was called out.. she should have been in the finals.. how disappointing!

It sucks once again that the wrong person went home. I hope that the producers don't try and pit Hosea against skanky.

Gosh! Eric is one beautiful man. Those eyes and lips just kill me. Along with that accent!!

I can't believe how hard I am rooting for Stephan now. I'm really concerned about Gail's blog where she says at the end about the final "nothing is as it seems. nothing.". It will kill me if Leah is in the final. It will also kill me if Stephan isn't in the final. Based on his performance, he deserves to be there. I would also love to see Carla and Fabio at the end, but don't think they deserve it as Stephan does. I'm ambivalent about Hosea--he's not my fave, but I never thought he could win. Without Jamie, Stephan is really the only chef to beat. I'm a little concerned about Toby's blog that mentions Stephan is great at remaking someones dish with his solid skills versus creating something new. Hopefully he doesn't pull a Richard Blais and beat himself.

We are going from a credible show with credible judges to a show that is judging for television drama value - too sad and below what I expect from Tom.

She seemed glad-to-go to me. Lost the will-to-win.

Leah should have been the one out of there last night. I really thought Jamie would have made it to the finals. The only decision I've really agreed with over the past 4 weeks was when they eliminated Jeff. Makes me wonder what they're thinking.

I read Tom's blog this morning. He said that Leah and Hosea's dishes were actually pretty good. I guess they need three in the bottom for the drama.

Geez! Eric is one beautiful man. I could watch him cook and listen to him talk all day.

I agree with all of you, I was shocked that is was Jamie not Leah that got cut. I too thought it would be Jamie and Steffan in the final round. Chef Tom said that her fish was well cooked, it was only the celery that got her in trouble. I'm so unhappy with this. And in past weeks they have been doing the same thing. Carla instead of Rhadika should have been cut, Leah instead of Aryan should have been cut and Leah instead of Jamie should have been cut.

At first I was so excited because this episode *finally* focused on real chef skills and it was my favorite of the season.

And then Jamie was let go. Plus I thought Carla should have won. Now I'm back to meh. With the departures of Jeff and Jamie, I don't think anyone is going to be able to compete with Stefan.

What? I have no clue as to why they sent home Jamie instead of Leah. Tom was clearly pushing for Leah to go home. I imagine Toby wanted Jamie to go home, but still...Aargh!

Well, once again they just couldn't break up the lovebirds. GAG! Leah should have been sent home, not Jamie.

i agree -- jamie was my favorite, and the only one who seemed to rival stefan in creative skill. leah's immaturity is really wearing on me and i would have been glad to see her go.

Jamie????

Leah doesn't give a crap.
That was one of the better episodes - except for the result. I don't like whiners and Leah strikes me as one.

Did anyone catch what Carla said at Judge's Table in repsonse to Chef Eric asking her how she figured out the the red wine berniase sauce?

She said the sauce was more like a "barouche" or "barushe" or something like that.

I've been going crazy trying to google what she said! Can anyone clarify what word she used?

:-) Thanks!

Worst season ever. Let everyone go to keep the Leah/Hosea drama continue.

She said 'buerre rouge,' like buerre blanc, but with red wine. Was very impressed that she caught that, as was Eric.

Beef and Fur:

I believe Carla said it was a beurre rouge type sauce. It can start out as a beurre blance (white), but if you add something red, it's rouge (red).

At 10:58 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Carla said "beurre rouge" - in French it's red butter. It's a kind of sauce. :-)

Beurre rouge? Thank you! Now I feel silly because I know exactly what that is, but for some reason I was thrown off by the way she prounced it.

Thanks for posting that answer!

can anyone say Top Scallop? I hope Fabio wins all though it does look like Stefan will take it.

Leah should have been sent home. She didn't care about the quick challenge. Her fish dish was BAD. Is there something going on with the judging??? Smells fishy!

I just watched this show as I had it DVR'ed. I took it off of the schedule. I loved this show, but am fed up with Leah skating by every time. A couple of people have gone home instead of her. I'm done with this show.

HI!
just want to know if any of you have any problems accessing the extra videos at bravotv.com

Thanks

Leah needs to go. But I guess giving Anthony Bourdain a "treat" will keep her around and get her places. The rumor is true, comes from a very reliable source that knows Leah. No surprise here about her character.
