Top Chef Season 6 - Episode 1

The games began last night in Vegas and the winners for week one were...

Chef Jennifer Carroll for the Quick Fire challenge.

and Chef Kevin Gillespie for the Elimination Challenge.

Congratulations to both of you. Way to start the season.

We always hate when the first chef has to go but like Chef Tom said, one had to go. Best wishes to Chef Jennifer Zavala. We hope you will drop by our little kitchen some time.

We wish you the best!

So fellow TC fans, what did you think of last nights show?

I didn't take much for Michael Isabella to grate on my nerves - I may have to mute him from now on.

I heard ousted Chef Jennifer Zavata on the radio yesterday. She has changed restaurants and is now at a Mexican Restaurant whose name I can't remember on 2nd Street in Phila. She said that the reason that she went with her unusual protein was that they shopped at Whole Foods on a Sunday and that Whole Foods gets no deliveries on Sundays. But others made it work. Oh, that is a different show. Judy

Padma I dislike more with each new season. Gail continues to get hotter with each new season. Tom is cool as always if a little predictable.

I think the wrong chef went. I think instead of Jennifer it should of been Eve.

I think it was unfair to award $15,000 for the quickfire and NOTHING to Gillespie for winning the main challenge.

From previous seasons we all know what goes on in the stew room while the judges deliberate (aka lots of drinking). So it was no surprise to me that when the cheftestants had to create a dish that was based on their their vice, the majority of them chose some form of alcohol.

I also agree with what AuntZue said. I think it's great if the winner of the quickfire gets something extra since they're in Las Vegas. But I do think that the elimination challenge winner deserves something too. We've seen elimination challenge winners win extra things before - why not make that a standard too?
