Top Chef Season 6 - Episode 5 Results
Another night of fun and Vegas heat.
( Bravo never thought to not film this during the hot months ?!?!)
Congratulations to Chef Michael for his cactus quick fire. We will let you make your own cactus jokes in the comment area below.
and to Chef Bryan for his desert elimination win. You are on a roll Bryan. Here are a few comments from Chef Tom's blog regarding the challenge.
"First, let me digress and say that what I liked about this challenge was the chance to get off the strip. There’s a vast desert out there, and it was neat to see a whole different side of Vegas. What didn’t work? The heat. It was too hot to cook, too hot to eat … that heat was obnoxious. And while the idea of cooking over an open flame was nice in the abstract, in actuality the “fire pits” were propane, so they were no big deal to cook on. The other thing I didn’t like about the challenge was that it was too open-ended. The chefs were not asked to do anything food-wise that tied into their being on a ranch. Yes, it was a fun idea to have the chefs sleep and cook in the great outdoors, but as with the use of cactus in the Quickfire Challenge, I would have liked to have seen the challenge more closely connected on a food level with the life of the ranch. Interestingly enough, not one cheftestant cooked steak. I was so surprised by that."

Ah Mattin... Chef Biatch is not happy about this. We wish you the best and hope you drop by our little kitchen.
So fellow fans... what did you think?

Two quiffy challenges, in the heat, I'm not impressed.
The right person left, followed very closely, by Robin. Seriously, making ceviche on such a hot day? Didn't think it was necessary for the chefs to sleep in teepees. What does that have to do with the challenge?
I thought it was a very poorly conceived episode. Hopefully, Penn & Teller will breathe some life into next weeks and the challenges will be actual tests of a Chef's mettle instead of silliness.
I'd have made Nopales Rellenos and steak sandwiches and won both segments.
where the heck was the beef???
The main thing wrong with this season is no Villian! With Metin gone there in not even anyone annoying. No one is getting their head shaved this season!
Poodle Bitch also wonders about forcing the chefs to sleep in teepees. That is the type of foolishness she expects from "Survivor," or a VH1 show, not Top Chef.
That said, Poodle Bitch would have been happy to snuggle in a teepee with her favorite contestant, Chef Bryan Voltaggio.
Ashley is one of the villains, although unlike past villains, she's not a very good cook.
She's always unhappy about something, she went on a tirade about a stinkin' wedding challenge, and has a lousy attitude toward the judges.
The gulf between the best chefs and the worst chefs seems greater than any other series.
Gail looking super hot gain!
I think Mike Isabella will be our entertainment. I didn't particularly like his gender comments. Viewers got a tease of his tirade in a future episode in front of the Judges. Colicchio's facial expression was priceless. Can't wait.
After viewing Episode 5 again, I'm not liking Michael V. as much. His ego needs to come down a few notches. Right now, I'm liking Jen, Kevin and Bryan. Am also hoping Eli will be the dark horse.
I totally agree with Ruth!

Eli got off to a great start, but I think he peaked early and will not make it as far as I originally thought. I'm seeing both Ashley and Laurine as dark horses—especially Laurine, whose only stumble so far has been the pasta salad at Nellis.
And unless there's some kind of divine intervention, I see Robin and Ron—in that order—as the next two to go.
